Red Cross responds to fire in Nelson

Family’s home destroyed

NELSON, May 20, 2014 — The American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter is assisting a Nelson family who lost their home Tuesday morning in a fire.
A chapter volunteer from Marshall contacted the family and met with them Tuesday afternoon.
The Red Cross provided financial assistance for the family to meet their immediate emergency needs with the purchase of food, clothing and shoes. Family members also received Red Cross comfort kits, which contain personal hygiene items, and referrals to local partner agencies.
The family is staying with relatives.
Red Cross volunteers will monitor the family’s recovery process.
